Belmond Jimbaran Puri is one of the most beautiful resorts that we have had the pleasure of staying on our first night in Bali. We stayed here only for one night due to availability and were sad to leave. The service from all the hotel staff was top notch and was far above what you would expect from a five star resort.
CHECK IN
An exciting tradition that Belmond likes to include upon arrival is to smack a wooden gong with a large hammer at entrance as tradition to welcome guests to the hotel. This took us by surprise as we have never experienced something like this during our check-in process.
Shortly after we were escorted to the front lobby, where a concierge helped us get check-in & also provided cold towel and refreshing welcome drinks. Mani was also given a small flower bouquet that was wrapped in a banana leaf. She absolutely loved the fresh smell of the flowers in the bouquet.
Once the initial formalities were completed, a butler–yes we had a butler–pulled up in a golf cart to give us a quick tour of the beautiful resort amenities and drop us to our villa.
VILLAS
When we were escorted to our One-Bedroom pool villa, we found to our surprise, that we had not just one but two bungalow rooms separated by a courtyard with two sun beds, an outdoor dining table and large Balinese day bed swing. The villa was enclosed from all sides by walls covered in lush greenery which ensured privacy.
Our first bungalow was an incredibly spacious bedroom that had a comfy king size bed, large flat screen TV and a private en-suite complete with a separate soaker tub. To facilitate the indoor-outdoor living concept, the villa was also equipped with an outdoor shower. At first we were hesitant to shower outside in the open, however Mani insisted we try it and we both absolutely loved showering outdoor in the Balinese heat.
The second bungalow was a large living space with a comfortable day bed and flat screen TV. Behind the living space was an office area fully equipped with a coffee maker and wine chiller. This bungalow opened directly into the outdoor lap pool enclosed with a well manicured gardens and colourful frangipani flowers.
HAPPY BELLY
We decided to have all our meals at the on-site restaurants as we were told Belmond had some of the best on-site restaurants with the perfect fusion of Indonesian and Western elements.
For lunch, we dined at the Nelayan Restaurant located right on the beach. Their food was prepared with freshly caught fish of Jimbaran bay, organic vegetables, fruits and spices. I ordered the Chicken quesadilla and Darsh got the catch of the day. Both our meals were extremely flavorful and we absolutely loved the ambiance the restaurant had to offer.
For dinner, we decided to dine at the Balinese on site restaurant located which was located on the other side of the beach. The intimate candlelit dinner was combined with a traditional Balinese dance which depicted the story behind the Guligan festival in Bali. This was one of our best dinner experiences as we not only got to enjoy a traditional balinese meal but also got to experience and learn a lot about their culture.
The Breakfast was included in our stay was extensive. What we absolutely loved was the array of fresh fruit choices they had. We could pick any amount of fresh fruit we wanted and our server would cut and serve them to us right on our table. They also had a huge selection of baked goods including croissants, danishes and bread pudding which was one of the best we have had since our trip to Paris. If all these are not able to satisfy your #breakfastgoals, the chef can whip you up a crêpe, french toast or eggs however you like them.
POOL
Jimbaran boasts an impressive lake-size infinity pool made with stone and decorated with fountains throughout to compliment the private pools in the villas. The pool grounds make for a perfect spot to relax as they were well maintained with a bar and ample day beds.
BEACH
Belmond Jimbaran Puri occupies a central beach front location of the long stretch of white sand beach. It offers unobstructed views of the most beautiful sunset and at evening you can sit on the beach watch the lights of fishing boats flickering out at sea.
ACTIVITIES
Because we were only at Belmond for one night, we could only book ourselves for one activity. We decided to the Uluwatu Sunset Cruise on a dedari boat as we were told the sunset here is a must-see. The cruise along the stunning beaches on the West coast of Bukit Peninsula and admire the surfers. Once, we reached the most southern point of Bali, we got to experience one of the most beautiful sunset.
Apart from the sunset cruise, Belmond has several other activities and workshops that you can take part in. Some of the activities we really wanted to try were the Balinese massage and cooking classes as these seemed very interactive and couple centric.
OUR VERDICT
You know a hotel is outdone itself when the guests loved their stay here, so much so that they decided not to leave the resort not once during their stay. This resort was just perfect and exceeded all our expectations for a perfect romantic couples vacation.
